The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
