The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
