The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a fitting requital, 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
