The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
