The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 you pay attention 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
