The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 you pay attention 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
