The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 then he mustered 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 you pay attention 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
