The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and gently take it away; 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 and hastily turned away, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
