He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 To him you attend; 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And whereas he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 mother, father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
