He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
