The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And extended shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
