He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
