He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
