He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
