He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We send down abundant water, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
