۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
