He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
