He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
