He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and in awe of God 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and pious. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 Olives and dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
