He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and in awe of God 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 uplifted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
