The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and brightening morning, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
