The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
