The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
