The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 The closing night, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet - peace and blessings be upon him. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
