The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
