The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think they will be raised again 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
