The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a grievous day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
