The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 on a great day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A book inscribed, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
