The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
