The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
