The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
