The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
