The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
