The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
