The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
