The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
