The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
