The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
