The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
