The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 The piercing star! 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
