The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 It is the shining star -- 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
