The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
