The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
