The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 The piercing star! 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
