Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
