Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
