Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel how it has been created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
