Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
