Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And cups put in place 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
