Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
