Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
